Susan Lane Events is searching for passionate event chefs to work with us in our clients’ home kitchens and event venues in the Boston area. Our ideal candidates are team players who love to create exceptional custom menus. Responsibilities:

• Maintain a clean and organized kitchen area, including proper storage and labeling of all food items
• Ensure that all food is prepared and presented in accordance with food safety and sanitation guidelines, as well as our visual standard for creative food display
• Prepare high-quality meals for events of all sizes, from intimate gatherings to large-scale corporate events
• Coordinate with other staff members to ensure that all elements of the event, including setup, serving, and cleanup, are executed flawlessly
• Supervise and train other kitchen staff, as needed
• Ensure that all food waste is minimized and disposed of properly

Requirements:

• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced and exciting environment where you can utilize your creativity and skills to make every event a success
• Ability to both work independently in the kitchen and/or take direction well from the lead chef, and/or to delegate effectively if assigned to the lead chef role for that particular event
• A positive, collaborative attitude, especially under pressure in a fast-paced environment, and when interacting with homeowners/clients
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
• Ability to stand for extended periods of time, lift heavy objects, and work in a hot and busy event environment
• 2-5 years of experience as a sous chef or a similar role
• Adhere to all safety and sanitation guidelines.
